Google Chrome market share moves above Microsoft Internet Explorer

Google _chrome

It's been coming a long time, but Chrome is now the world's leading web browser. According to a report by web analytics company StatCounter, in June 2013 34% of web browsing globally was done through a Google Chrome browser.

Internet Explorer is not far behind though on 32%!

What does this mean to companies?

In essence, you should check that your website is optimised for Chrome and displays correctly, otherwise you will be annoying a large and growing slice of the market.

Don't forget to check your website performance in Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Opera   as well though.  Web standards are making for much greater consistency but there are still differences in the way that browsers display websites and support certain software plug-ins.
